Cleaning your Venus

Before use

Always clean first

Rinse your Venus with warm water and a small amount of mild, fragrance-free soap — even when it's new. This removes any residue from manufacturing or storage.

After use

Clean promptly

Clean within 30 minutes of use. Warm water and unscented soap is sufficient. For a deeper clean, use a dedicated intimate toy cleaner — available at most pharmacies.

Drying

Dry completely

Pat dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow to air dry fully before storing — trapped moisture creates an environment for bacteria. Never store damp.

01

Rinse under warm running water

Not hot — extreme heat can degrade silicone over time. Lukewarm is ideal.

02

Apply mild, unscented soap

Avoid antibacterial soaps, alcohol-based cleaners, or anything with fragrance — these can irritate sensitive skin and degrade silicone surfaces.

03

Gently work the lather over all surfaces

Pay attention to ridges, grooves, and textured areas where residue can accumulate.

04

Rinse thoroughly

Ensure no soap residue remains. Residue left on the surface can cause skin irritation.

05

Pat dry and air dry fully

Use a clean microfibre cloth to pat, then leave in a well-ventilated area for 15–20 minutes before storing.

Important: Never submerge a product in a cleaning solution unless it is rated IPX7 waterproof. Always check the product listing for its water rating before getting it wet.

Storing your Venus

Do

  • Store in the included pouch or a clean cloth bag
  • Keep in a cool, dry, and dark place
  • Store each product separately
  • Ensure the product is fully dry before putting away
  • Remove batteries from battery-operated products if storing long-term
  • Keep away from direct sunlight

Don't

  • Store silicone products touching each other — they can bond over time
  • Leave in direct sunlight or near heat sources
  • Store while still damp
  • Leave in a drawer without a bag or pouch
  • Store with products made from different materials without separation
  • Use plastic zip-lock bags — they trap moisture
Silicone & silicone: Two silicone products stored in direct contact can chemically bond and degrade each other's surface over time. Always store each product in its own pouch.

Charging & battery care

First charge

Charge fully before first use

When your Venus arrives, give it a full charge before your first session. This sets the battery baseline and extends overall battery lifespan.

Regular use

Don't let it fully deplete

Lithium batteries last longer when you recharge before they reach 0%. Try to charge when the indicator shows low rather than waiting for it to die completely.

Long-term storage

Store at partial charge

If you won't be using your Venus for an extended period, store it at around 50–70% charge. A full charge held for months can stress the battery.

Always use the provided charging cable

Third-party cables may not deliver the correct voltage and can damage the battery or charging port.

Ensure the magnetic connection is secure

Most Venus products use magnetic USB charging. Before leaving to charge, confirm the cable is properly attached — a loose connection means no charge.

Do not charge in extreme temperatures

Avoid charging in very hot or cold environments. Room temperature (18–25°C) is ideal.

Never charge while wet

Even for waterproof products — always fully dry the charging port area before connecting the cable.

Water & waterproofing

IPX6 rated

Splash resistant

Protected against powerful water jets and splashing from any direction. Safe to use in the shower. Not safe for submersion in water.

IPX7 rated

Fully waterproof

Can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes. Safe for bath use. Always check that the charging port is fully dry before charging.

Check your product listing for its specific IPX rating. When in doubt, treat your Venus as splash-resistant rather than submersible. Never use a product in water if you cannot confirm its rating.

Understanding materials

Material Found in How to clean Status
Silicone Most Venus vibrators and couples toys Warm water + mild soap, or toy cleaner. Do not use silicone-based lubricant. Body-safe
ABS Plastic Hard-bodied products and handles Warm water + mild soap. Compatible with silicone-based lubricants. Body-safe
Stainless Steel Select premium products Warm water + soap. Can be boiled or wiped with isopropyl alcohol (70%). Body-safe
Silicone + silicone lubricant = damage. Silicone-based lubricants chemically bond with silicone toys, breaking down the surface over time. Always use water-based lubricant with silicone products. ABS plastic and stainless steel are compatible with all lubricant types.

When to replace your Venus

Visible surface damage

If you notice cracks, tears, discolouration, or a sticky, tacky texture on the silicone surface, discontinue use immediately. A compromised surface is no longer body-safe.

Persistent odour after cleaning

A clean product should be odourless. If a strange smell persists after thorough cleaning, the material may have begun to degrade.

Motor performance declining significantly

Some reduction in power over years is normal. A sudden, sharp drop in performance — or irregular vibration — may indicate internal damage.

Battery no longer holding charge

Lithium batteries typically last 2–3 years with regular use. If your Venus no longer holds a meaningful charge, it may be time for a new one.

After illness or infection

If you have experienced a vaginal infection, we recommend replacing your product or boiling stainless steel models to ensure complete hygiene.
